1 INDEPENDENT THINKING AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS- ALL 11 + STUDENTS

Throughout our lives, we are given messages, both directly and indirectly.

These messages are given to us by the society in which we live.

We have a very simple task, which we would like you to do every week.

We will provide something thought-provoking, and all we ask is that you think about the message within in and ask the question:

What message am I being given here?

Do I agree or disagree with this statement?

By doing this, we are asking you to become independent thinkers.

Some statements, you may agree with and others you may disagree with, or you may not have an opinion on it.

All of the above are fine.

Then, we would like you to ask yourself:

Why do I think what I think about the statement?

There is no right or wrong answer, and the purpose of this weekly exercise is purely to develop an awareness of critical thinking for now and for your future.

1. What is the message I am being given?

2. What do I think about this message?

3. Do I agree, disagree or not have an opinion?

4. What is my viewpoint based on?
