Inspiration, Well being and Success tips for your 11 Plus

We have all had times where we have to undertake a new project or activity which seems “enormous”. If it is something totally new to you, it may make you feel a little uneasy..

So, perhaps some of you are feeling a little nervous about starting your 11 plus preparation. And yes, we do understand how you feel.

However, please do remember a couple of things which we hope will give you confidence:

  1. Almost everyone who starts something new will be nervous.
  2. When you start something new, it can be scary because it is all so different, but the important thing is to actually START.
  3. Have complete confidence that in a couple of weeks you will know what you need to do and how you need to do it. Everything takes a couple of weeks to get into the swing of it all!
  4. You can achieve anything, but you need to start and it doesn’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to be achieving the highest scores in your tests, but you DO need to keep persevering!

A note about perfection:

You don’t have to achieve perfection, so don’t worry if your test scores are not that high!

So just start and don’t worry

Don’t be fearful!

And if you work hard, that’s the best you can do!

 

Well-being

Have you ever tried “belly breathing”?

It’s a certain way of breathing that can directly relax you.

So, if you are feeling a little nervous or tense, you can use this.

Breathe in for 4 and push your stomach out.

Hold your breath for 3.

Breathe out for 4 compressing your stomach.

Repeat at least 3 times and see if you can notice whether you feel less tense!
